2023 is a good year for movies. Movie buffs are excited about the movies released this year catering to all kinds of genres and audiences. We have compiled a list of 7 most anticipated movies of 2023:
1. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part One
Mission: Impossible happens to be the greatest live-action franchise. Tom Cruise is all set to open the seventh installment of the movie series by performing the most dangerous stunt in the history of motion pictures by jumping a motorcycle off a huge cliff. Some new cast is working with Cruise, such as Rob Delaney, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, Cary Elwes, and Esai Morales. The Mission Impossible movies have been consistently good. Since the Dead Reckoning is in parts, means the story is going to be good.
2. Killers of the Flower Moon
Martin Scorsese goes for the big guns again with this epic crime drama that is based on David Grann’s 2017 nonfiction book about a dark time in history: an epidemic of murders of Native Americans in the 1920s and the investigations that began. Scorsese leading men Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert Di Niro get on board for the first time in any Scorsese movie. The duo paired up onscreen in 1993 This Boy’s Life. The movie will first debut at Cannes before getting a theatrical release from Paramount. The cast also includes Jesse Plemons, Lily Gladstone, and Mollie Burkhart.
3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Director James Gunn had announced that the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 would mark the end of the story. However, that was before it was known that it is Gunn’s last film for Marvel. So, this could be an end to both Gunn and Guardians. Along with exploring the dynamics of the relationship between Gamora and Star-Lord, fans can also expect to know the origin story of Rocket. Moreover, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will introduce the audience to Adam Warlock, the new villain with High Evolutionary.
4. The Little Mermaid
Disney released the first trailer of the highly-anticipated live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. Viewers are finally getting an actor of color in the lead role. Halle Bailey is the lead role, Ariel. The trailer does not reveal much but demonstrates Bailey’s excellent vocals while singing Part of Your World. The cast includes English actor Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Melissa McCartney as Ursula. The Little Mermaid releases on the 26th of May.
5. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
The follow-up to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Across the Spider-Verse is one of the most anticipated animated superhero films of this year. The first trailer reveals that there are many Spider-People you haven’t met yet. Across the Spider-Verse seems more exciting and adventurous in terms of animations and the plot.
6. Oppenheimer
Directed by Christopher Nolan, this biopic is based on the conflicted scientist, and the father of nuclear weapons, Robert Oppenheimer. The lead role is carried out by Nolan’s good luck charm, Cillian Murphy. Oppenheimer studied in Europe and the physicist was hired by the American government to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project. Murphy is surrounded by a star cast of Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Rami Malek, Gary Oldman, and other notable stars.
