Halloween costumes are all about creativity. You don’t necessarily have to spend a fortune. And when it comes to kids, there are some fairly easy costumes you can make rather quickly using the material readily available at home. Moreover, the best part about making Halloween costumes for kids is that the whole family can take part in it.
Having said that, here are some easy and amazing Halloween costume ideas for kids:
Astronaut
This costume can be made using household items everyone has. A bike helmet, pair of oven mitts, and rain boots. You could go all white or silver even.
Cute Cupcake
This costume is easy-peasy. All you need to do is cover a laundry basket in wrapping paper, stuff in the frosting, and use a cherry hat. After all, candy shouldn’t be the only sweet thing on Halloween!
DIY Skeleton
To make a skeleton, you need a black sweatsuit and use white paint for outlining the skeleton. For a spookier effect, use glow-in-dark paint!
Frankenstein’s Bride
You can find the stuff needed for it at home. Take white pants, a white full-sleeved shirt, and a white curtain panel. With some face paint and poor makeup, your Bride of Frankenstein is ready!
French Toast
You need a black beret, a red scarf, and a striped tee or short dress. Use cardboard to make a piece of toast. Punch the cardboard bread from the top and use string to wear it around your neck. Viola! French Toast is ready. Pun intended!
Firefighter
Use a red raincoat. Take black and yellow tape to trim the edges to make this clever firefighter’s costume.
Goldfish
This really cute costume needs an orange hooded sweatshirt only. Use coffee filters and dye them orange to use as scales. Attach googly eyes on the hood for eyes.
Gumball Machine
This adorable costume requires very easy and cheap materials. All you need is a white tank top. Take multi-colored pompoms onto the white tank top. Take a black headband and stick some pompoms on it too. Pair the tank top with a red skirt and add a small tag saying 25¢.
Knight
To make your knight in shining armor, use a bike helmet, a gray sweatsuit, some cardboard to make the sword, and lots of tin foil.
Librarian
Get your little bookworm a plaid skirt and cardigan. To complete the look, invest in a pair of glasses, a name tag, and a tote bag full of books.
Mad Scientist
Grab your Dad’s white button-down shirt, splash some colors on it, a felt wig of wild hair, and a measuring cup to make the perfect mad scientist.
Mermaid
A super cheap costume, and very easy to make. Get a blue recycling bag, dyed cupcake liners for scale, and ribbon to make your mermaid. You can use pastel colors mixed with glitter.
Salt and Pepper
Use clear plastic garbage bags. Fill one with packing popcorn, and your Salt. And another with black pomp oms, your Pepper. Your kids would make the cutest Salt and Pepper pair on the block!
Scarecrow
The best part about DIY scarecrows is that you can find everything at home. Get creative, and you’ll be surprised how good it turns out!
Happy Halloween!
