Step 1: Pick a Niche and Name
If you have an idea for your blog name, see that nobody has registered it. If the name you selected has already taken, you can try:
- Try a different extension for the domain: try .net or .org if .com is taken.
- Use small words: such as a the, my, etc.
- Add dashes: chow-mein
A good blog name should be self-explanatory so visitors can know instantly what to expect from your blog. Also, think about the personality you want to reflect. For blog niche, you could either make it:
- A Personal blog: All about you, from random stuff to daily routine.
- Share Life experiences: Sharing what you learned from life.
- Show your hobbies or passion such as fashion, travel, cooking, or sports.
If you plan to monetize your blog, narrow down your interest, research your audience and see if you can make money off of it.
Step 2: Get It Online
After selecting the name and topic, it’s time to take your blog online. You need web hosting and blogging software for it, and they come together usually. Pick a hosting platform from BlueHost, GoDaddy, or DreamHost. Some blogging platforms already have to host. In that case, you don’t need a separate web host.
Step 3: Setup & Have It Designed
After your blog has successfully made it online, choose a template. Decide the pages you wish to include. Customize your blog by selecting a theme and appropriate logo.
Step 4: Create Quality Content
Once your blog is up, your focus should be creating quality content. Upload at least one new article per week and do it for three months before you begin your efforts to monetize it. Here are a few valuable tips:
- Your posts should be informative and engaging.
- Create an interesting title that urges visitors to click and read it all. The first paragraph should clearly define the topic.
- Your posts should be lengthy. The more information, the better. But break it up into small paragraphs so visitors can go through it faster.
- Add a comment section at end of each post to engage the reader. Ask them a question and encourage them to leave a comment to boost engagement.
- Your content should come from your heart and brain. Use your experiences and knowledge to create original content.
- Always edit your content and remove any errors or mistakes.
- Use images and graphics. Best if they are your own, or use free ones and edit them yourself.
Step 5: Promote Your Blog
To draw visitors to your blog, you need to work on its promotion. You can do many things. Tell your friends to share it, and use social media. Also, comment on other blogs, collaborate with other bloggers and interact with visitors. Optimize your blog for search engines as well.
